The Perfect Fit by Mary Jayne Baker

Do you know, @MaryJayneBaker never fails to put a smile on my face. @TheMirrorBooks have an absolute star in this lady.

After years living in London, costume shop owner Becky Finn is trying to build a new life for herself and fiancé Cole in her old home of Egglethwaite, a sleepy village in the Yorkshire Dales.

Keen to raise funds for the struggling village hall she loved as a child, Becky soon finds herself at the head of a colourful group intent on resurrecting Egglethwaite s Christmas pantomime. But, as she quickly discovers, there’s more to panto than innuendo and slapped thighs.

As opening night grows closer, Becky starts to wonder if her embattled panto will ever make it to the stage and, with handsome co-star Marcus on the scene, if she s picked the right man for her after all.

I started reading this book and felt I’d met an old friend. Having read “A Bicycle Made For Two” I could associate with some of the characters and loved meeting the new ones.

I adore the Yorkshire charm and wit, and the Pantomime rehearsals where so funny, I felt as if I were there!

It’s such a heartwarming story with VERY laugh out loud moments in typical Mary Jayne Baker style. If you know someone, who needs cheering up, just purchase this book. I guarantee it will be the best tonic ever.

I give this book 5*

The Worst Case Scenario Cookery Club by Chrissie Manby

I had a wonderful delivery from @HodderPublicity & @bookbridgr through my door in the shape of @chrissiemanby new book The Worst Case Scenario Cookery Club.

In the quaint seaside town of Newbay, a beginner’s cookery course is starting. And three very different students have signed up . . .

Liz‘s husband has left her for a twenty-something clean-eating blogger, and she’s determined to show the world – and her daughter – she’s just as capable in the kitchen. John, newly widowed after fifty years of marriage, can’t live on sympathy lasagnes forever. To thirty-year-old workaholic Bella, the course is a welcome escape from her high-pressure job. Their only common ground: between them, they can barely boil an egg!

Enter talented chef Alex, who is determined to introduce his pupils to the comforts of cuisine. As Liz, John and Bella encounter various disasters in the kitchen, the unlikely trio soon form a fast friendship. Their culinary skills might be catastrophic – but could the cookery club have given them a recipe for happiness?

This was a joy to read from start to finish, each character had their own story to tell and had me smiling each time I turned a page. There are even recipes to follow which is an added bonus in my eyes.

I have always adored Chrissie’s work, she always makes a dark day bright. This book as with all of her work, should be on NHS Prescription as I am positive it will help many people feel better.

I rate this book 5/5

Breakfast Under A Cornish Sun by Samantha Tonge

Once again I need to thank the wonderful people at @UKCarina  and  @NetGalley for allowing me to review this book by @SamTongeWriter

I absolutely fell in love with the cover of this book as soon as I saw it, so summery and it gave me that holiday feeling.

I used to live down in Cornwall so any book with Cornwall in its title draws me in too so I really had to read this book 🌞

The inside of the book didn’t disappoint either, there was plenty of food talk which was described so well I almost needed a napkin to mop my mouth. The scenery descriptions too, made me feel as if I was actually there. The characters too seemed warm and friendly.

This really was a wonderful book which made me feel happy, loved and warm inside.

A perfect summer read

I rate this book 10/10 🌞
