Sophie’s life has just got back on track, when in a single day all is shattered.
Bewildered and blindsided she must pick up the pieces of her life.
Realizing there is no going back to her perfectly plotted life, Sophie is forced to seek refuge.
So she heads home; first to the English countryside into her parents nurturing arms,
and then to a quaint Italian village and into the inspiring and receptive arms of her nonna Rosa.
Will she find happiness again and could love make an unexpected appearance along the way?
I most certainly did get away this summer, without even leaving my sofa!
The cover is so pretty with its pastel colours, that’s what drew me to want to read it.
This was an easy to read book with a lovely main character. Each chapter had me gripped and I adored my time in Italy, having never been before.
I feel the ending was possibly left open for a second book and even the cook book? I’d love to read the cook book.
It was a very enjoyable read and I received an advanced review copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily.
I give this book 5*

I want to make my husband fall back in love with me. Let me explain. This isn’t an exercise in 1950s wifeydom. I haven’t been reading articles in old women’s magazines. ‘Twenty ways to keep your man’. That couldn’t be further from the truth. I want him to fall back in love with me so that when I tell him to get the hell out of my life he’ll care. He won’t just think, ‘Oh good’. I want it to hurt. Paula has had Robert’s back since they got together as drama students. She gave up her dreams so he could make it. Now he’s one of the nation’s most popular actors. And Paula’s just discovered he’s having an affair. She’s going to remind Robert just what he’s sacrificing. And then she’s going to break his heart like he broke hers. It will be her greatest acting role ever. Revenge is sweet. Isn’t it?
What a great book to start my new year reading on its way. It was funny, lighthearted and had likeable characters too. Paula, the main character, is a strong willed lady, I liked her a lot. I never put this book down, I read it in one sitting as I needed to make sure everything went to plan.
My Sweet Revenge is one of those books which makes you sit up and take note. It makes you smile. It comforts you. Basically it has it all and I personally see it as a number one best seller. 💜

You wake up to find the man beside you is dead.
He is not your husband. This is not your bed.
What do you do?
Tara Logan lives a quiet life with her husband, Noah, and two children, teenager Rosie and eleven-year-old Spencer.
But her peace is shattered when she wakes in her neighbour Lee’s bed, with no memory of how she got there or what happened between them.
And worse – he has been stabbed to death.
Convinced she didn’t kill Lee, Tara stays silent, fearing the truth will rip her family apart.
But as her daughter spirals out of control, and her husband becomes increasingly distant, Tara soon realises that someone in her life knows what really happened to Lee. She must get to the truth before they do.
Tara made a mistake … but will one night cost her everything?
A gripping, shocking psychological thriller, with a twist that will take you by surprise.
I found this to be a fast paced, heart in the mouth book. I always wondered what I would find when I turned the next page in this gripping psychological thriller. I’ve not read any of this writers books before but feel they may be finding their way to my bookshelf.
I have read a few of this genre and the writing is somewhat different in this book. There are many twists in this book which don’t come out fully until the very end which is always good.

This is a debut novel by Leah Weiss and it really is good.I loved the cover of this book, it made me want to know more about the girl. It is a story told from different points of view where all the story starts to fall into place. It is a tearjerker so be ready for it, but a truly remarkable read. The people of Baines Creek are honest and gritty folk. This is a book of abuse and scandal but so well written.
I rate this book 5/5
A strikingly sincere portrait of a town and its buried secrets from an outstanding new voice in southern fiction.
In a North Carolina mountain town filled with moonshine and rotten husbands, Sadie Blue is only the latest girl to face a dead-end future at the mercy of a dangerous drunk. She’s been married to Roy Tupkin for fifteen days, and she knows now that she should have listened to the folks who said he was trouble. But when a stranger sweeps in and knocks the world off-kilter for everyone in town, Sadie begins to think there might be more to life than being Roy’s wife.
As stark and magnificent as Appalachia itself, If the Creek Don’t Rise is a bold and beautifully layered debut about a dusty, desperate town finding the inner strength it needs to outrun its demons. The folks of Baines Creek will take you deep into the mountains with heart, honesty, and homegrown grit.

This #TrueStory from @RandomHouseCA which I received from @NetGalley is a truly powerful story. How the author fell in love, was betrayed and lied to.
I kind of got rather bored half way through but carried on regardless. This story came over as if the writer didn’t really care but that could just have been how I was reading it.

She fell in love with him, they married and then she found out who he was: a conman who was determined to destroy her.
She was a capable and confident young woman, studying broadcast journalism and honing her skills of observation and objectivity. She was also a little unworldly, the product of a small, rural Western Canadian community where doors were never locked and life was simple and direct. On a backpacking trip in the UK, she met the man who would become her husband. A man who everyone agreed was one of the most intelligent, charming people they had ever met. Easy to like, easy to believe. Easy to love. A man without mercy who shattered her emotionally, psychologically and financially.
Decades later, Kenner Jones is at large today, having committed crimes around the world under a series of fake names and personas. He has been described—by a seasoned US immigration officer—as “the best conman I have ever encountered.”
No one got closer to Kenner Jones than Lee Mackenzie. In The Charming Predator, he is unmasked for the first time.

When the lovely Canadian Publishers @RandomHouseCA gave me the opportunity to review #Unbreakable a story of #IceHockey, I was over the moon @ToddDenault & @HockeyBroph had put together this book.
In only his 3rd NHL season, Wayne Gretzky set the unbeatable NHL record – scoring 50 goals in just 39 games. A book for the devoted Gretzky fans, and books like 99 by Al Strachan.
Unbreakable: 50 Goals in 39 Games, Wayne Gretzky and the Story of Hockey’s Greatest Record sets out to chronicle that unforgettable streak of 39 games in the fall of 1981, when a 20-year-old wunderkind from the town of Brantford, Ontario, captured the imagination of not just the hockey world but the world at large and emerged as both the game’s biggest star and it’s most recognizable face.
Published on the 35th anniversary of this remarkable feat, the story of this unforgettable season is chronicled by renowned hockey authors Mike Brophy and Todd Denault.
Based on new interviews with Wayne Gretzky and with those who surrounded him during his magical run at hockey’s greatest record, Unbreakable: 50 Goals in 39 Games, Wayne Gretzky and the Story of Hockey’s Greatest Record will detail on a game-by-game basis Gretzky’s stellar run towards hockey immortality, through extensive research and the reminiscences of those who were there, including teammates, and players from opposing teams.
Its a really interesting read for all ice hockey fans, young and old. There are some great stories too of players names you are guaranteed to recognise. If you love Ice Hockey this book is for you.
