The Best Boomerville Hotel by Caroline James

This book by @CarolineJames12 was a joy to read at a very unhappy time in my life, I needed cheering up after losing my much loved little dog.

The cover made me smile as it reminded me of my favourite TV programme as a child ‘ On The Buses’ and the characters where just as much fun.

I laughed out loud, enjoyed love and mystery too. Infact this book has it all and I felt I knew each character personally and didn’t want the book to end.
My book arrived a few days after Bertie died aged 16 and Caroline James helped me smile again.

I give this book 5 *

Britain’s answer to the best Marigold Hotel’

Let the shenanigans begin at the Best Boomerville Hotel …

Jo Docherty and Hattie Contaldo have a vision – a holiday retreat in the heart of the Lake District exclusively for guests of ‘a certain age’ wishing to stimulate both mind and body with new creative experiences. One hotel refurbishment later and the Best Boomerville Hotel is open for business!

Perhaps not surprisingly Boomerville attracts more than its fair share of eccentric clientele: there’s fun-loving Sir Henry Mulberry and his brother Hugo; Lucinda Brown, an impoverished artist with more ego than talent; Andy Mack, a charming Porsche-driving James Bond lookalike, as well as Kate Simmons, a woman who made her fortune from an internet dating agency but still hasn’t found ‘the One’ herself.

With such an array of colourful individuals there’s bound to be laughs aplenty, but could there be tears and heartbreak too and will the residents get more than they bargained for at Boomerville?

Another Rebecca by Tracey Scott-Townsend

This is the first book I have read by @authortrace, It’s not my usual genre, but Tracey is a local lady from my hometown and to be honest, the storyline sounded very intriguing.

I was a little confused in parts but it soon came together. This was a very sensitive, emotional, gritty, mysterious and infact amazing book, I started reading and couldn’t wait to find out what was on the next page.

Tracey really is a wonderful writer, she somehow gets under your skin and draws you in, she most certainly drew me in. I really enjoyed this book.

Never stick to your normal genre, get out there, try something different. You might just fall upon a gem like I have in ANOTHER REBECCA.

I give this book 5*

A gripping psychological family drama about Rebecca Grey, a sensitive girl who’s spent her childhood caring for her alcoholic mother, Bex. They lurch from one poverty-stricken situation to another until Rebecca is hospitalised with exhaustion. While there, she has an illness-triggered hallucination which entangles her deeper than ever into her mother’s psyche.

As an art student, Rebecca can’t understand why she is repeatedly impelled to paint a white horse in a blue landscape. And then there is the boy with yellow hair who she glimpses from the corner of her eye.

Bex’s life was frozen by a shocking tragedy when she was nineteen. Her ‘great grief’ caused her to make a decision which nobody must ever find out about. Rebecca has been implicated in her mother’s lies since the moment of her birth, a fact that her father, Jack, has no inkling of.

As Rebecca gets to know her father’s new family, the gap between her and her mother widens. The mystery of Bex’s dark past comes into focus when an old woman she has never met contacts Rebecca, claiming to be her grandmother.

The thunder of hooves is getting closer for both Rebecca and Bex and the blond-haired boy is more and more often in Rebecca’s dreams. Can Bex continue to keep Rebecca in the dark about the circumstances of her birth, or will the final twist in her tail set Rebecca free to make a new life of her own?

Adapted from a short story written by the author when she was an art student, Another Rebecca was inspired by the painting There is no Night by Jack B. Yeats.

Here The Truth Lies by Seb Kirby

Here is my #Review on @Seb_Kirby latest psychological thriller.

As an avid #reader I love to get my head into a book, this was certainly no exception. As soon as the postman delivered it, I was out in the garden with my nose firmly in it!

Seb describes things so well, I felt I was actually treading the streets and smelling the air. Its the type of story I love to watch on TV, I was trying to guess things as I turned each page but became so engrossed I just couldn’t put this fabulous thriller down.

There were times I found myself wanting to be able to turn the pages faster to make sure all was ok in this gripping edge of the seat read.

All I can say is WOW what a blooming fantastic read that was, certainly I feel this is going to be a top seller.

I rate this book 5/5

We Have Lost The Pelicans by Paul Mathews

#BookBlogger 📚. This book by @IamTheHuman is out now so if you like Political Satire and a bit of a look into the future with a few laughs along the way, then this book is for you.

“We Have Lost The Pelicans”  was rather different to what i had expected. I laughed but wasn’t sure if i was laughing in the correct places. It had a little bit of mystery and suspense in there too but again I was kind of confused in parts.

I must add that I’m not really a Political Satire kind of girl but i think for those who are, this book will be a real treat.

Exposure by Ava Marsh

#BookBlogger 📚 Wow!!@MsAvaMarsh is a Jolly good writer and I must thank her for posting out to me this absolutely sex on legs book for me to #read & #review. And to The Book Club for recommending it 💜

I’ve not read any of Ava’s work before so had no idea what to expect but I can tell you, that her writing style is like no other author I’ve ever read and I LOVE IT!!!

I was so intrigued by the story that I read the book in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down. The characters are fantastic and as a fan of prison dramas this book really hit the spot for me.

It was gritty, sexy, edgy, eye opening easy to read thriller but if you are easily offended by lots of sex you had best stay away.

I rate this book 5/5

The 80’s Annual by Sarah Lewis

#BOOK #REVIEW Been a teenager back in the 1980’s and seeing this Annual written by @MyEighties really brought back some fabulous memories for me and I am positive it will for everyone else too.

I smiled through every page and loved the interviews with bands I had totally forgotten about.

Who remembers “The Selecter”? I certainly remember dancing around in my friends parents kitchen to “On My Radio” and here we get to know just what they are up to nowadays as well as other interviews with various singers throughout this wonderful pick and mix book of delightfulness of the 80’s.

The layout of this Annual reminds me of my favourite comic “Look-In” its fun, funky and has snippets of all interesting things.

I loved the crosswords & wordsearches too and also looking at the dodgy haircuts in the photographs. There were reminders of TV shows too and also News articles of the time.

I just had to have a go at the pop quiz “Which 80’s Band Are You”?

Turns out I am “Motorhead” That’ll do for me.

There is even a photo story which made me smile as these were the highlight of my week in magazines like “My Guy”

This is an ideal book for anyone who adores the 1980’s as much as I do.There are so many memories in this book its going to fly off the shelves and make lots of people very happy.

I rate this book 5/5
